At 8:16 p.m. on 25/08/2024, the all-sky camera at the Vidojevica Astronomical Station recorded a bright trail on the northern side of the sky near the horizon, partially obscured by clouds. The bright object had a tail similar to that of a comet, which is characteristic of bodies that are not made of solid/compact cosmic material, and which explode when approaching the Earth's surface (a bolide). Since there was no loud sound similar to thunder, which is expected when a bolide passes by, and the instruments at the station did not show disturbances in the parameters in the atmosphere that would indicate a strong explosion, the possibility of a bolide is ruled out. So, it is a body that is not made of solid/compact material, the origin of which could be cosmic, and in that case it could be the larger remnant of a comet that burned up in the Earth's atmosphere, disintegrating in the process. The length of its path on the celestial sphere indicates that the body most likely entered the Earth's atmosphere at a small angle to the Earth's surface. Also, there is a possibility that it is part of the space debris that burned up in the Earth's atmosphere, because such an effect can also be caused by a body consisting of parts that disintegrate during combustion when passing through the Earth's atmosphere.
