Research

The Observatory is a modern scientific institute in active development. The current scientific activities at the Observatory encompass various topics within the field of astronomy. The staff conduct successful studies of the kinematics and dynamics of celestial bodies, active galactic nuclei, which are linked to the existence of supermassive black holes at the centers of galaxies, stellar and galactic systems, cosmology, astrobiology, binary stars, solar physics, as well as the history and philosophy of physics and astronomy. Research is done in close collaborations with colleagues from all around the world. Visits of our staff to foreign institutes, and the visits of foreign experts to Serbia, contribute to the development of astronomy in our country. The Observatory employs 58 staff members, of which 45 are researchers.
