A delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, headed by Minister Dr. Jelena Begovic, visited the Astronomical Observatory on October 3, 2024. On that occasion, several meetings were organized at which the representatives of the Ministry were informed in detail about the organizational and scientific research work of the Astronomical Observatory.
Prof. Dr. Luka Č. Popović, Director of the Astronomical Observatory and members of the Observatory's management informed Minister Dr. Jelena Begović about the current work of this scientific research organization, as well as the plans and strategy for development in the future. During the meeting with researchers, members of the Scientific Council, Minister Dr. Begović received detailed information on scientific work within thematic projects, with a review of the most important results achieved. Minister Dr. Jelena Begovic also spoke with members of the Observatory's Steering Committee.
Accompanied by prof. Dr. Luka Č. Popović, the delegation of the Ministry had the opportunity to visit the complex of the Astronomical Observatory, as well as the premises of the Research Unit for Space Science and Technologies.
Also, in the presence of Minister Dr. Jelena Begovic, in the library of the Astronomical Observatory, under the auspices of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, a protocol on cooperation was signed between the Observatory and several astronomical societies. The signing of the protocol is aimed at promoting science as well as involving citizens in scientific activities.
The protocol on cooperation with the Astronomical Observatory Belgrade was signed by the astronomical societies AD "Ruđer Bošković" from Belgrade, AD "Aristarch" from Kragujevac, AD "Milutin Milanković" from Zrenjanin, AD "Kosmos" from Novi Sad, Natural Sciences Society GEA from Vršac, Research Station Petnica, UG "Knowledge Committee of Serbia" from Belgrade, Scout Troop "Pinki" from Sremska Mitrovica, AD "Vlašići", Astronomical Society of Serbia, Astronomical Society Novi Sad, Astronomical Association Eureka Kruševac, Astronomical Society Alfa from Niš, Astronomical Society "Lyra" from Novi Sad and Astronomical Society Andromeda from Knjaževac.
