The second most powerful solar flare of the current activity cycle was recorded on October 1st at 22:20 UTC (or October 2nd at 00:20 Belgrade time). The intensity of this flare was estimated at X7.1, which means it is very strong and can cause increased solar wind and the influx of cosmic particles into the Earth's atmosphere. These effects may lead to a geomagnetic storm, which is expected later this week, i.e., 48-72 hours after the flare occurred on the Sun.
